Unbeaten featherweight prospect Abraham Lopez (18-0-1) faces his toughest test to date when he battles Jorge Diaz (18-3) in the main event of Golden Boy's latest edition of LA Fight Club on Thursday. The bout will be televised by Fox Deportes.

The 27-year-old Mexican-American is expecting an all out war and is excited to face a fighter of Puerto Rican descent. He believes the fight will be very fan friendly.

"I've seen tape on him. As soon as I hear who my opponent is I start watching their fights and hearing their interviews. He is an aggressive fighter and he idolizes Arturo Gatti so he likes to be the aggressor. I will be ready.

"He's Puerto Rican and there is always that bad blood between Puerto Ricans and Mexicans so I will have to go in there and slug it out with him," said Lopez.

This will be Lopez's third fight of the year. He said that is all part of his plan to vie for a title in 2016.

"I've had a busy schedule and that is the best way to get rid of ring rust and hopefully get to a world title shot. I think the beginning of next year I will be fighting for a title. That is the plan we have with Golden Boy," Lopez explained.

We ended our conversation with a prediction for the nearly finalized Miguel Cotto-Canelo Alvarez fight that would take place on November 21st at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.

"That is a great fight. Canelo is going to win. He is the stronger and smarter fighter. He lost to Floyd but he came back strong," Lopez told BoxingScene.com.
