Promoter Yvon Michel advised BoxingScene.com that his once-beaten super middleweight, Adonis Stevenson (18-1, 15KOs), was willing to move up in weight to fight IBF light heavyweight champion Tavoris Cloud (24-0, 19KOs) on August 11th at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada.
Stevenson was scheduled to face Donovan George (22-2-1, 19KOs) in the Showtime televised co-feature, while Cloud headlined the show against hometown hero Jean Pascal (26-2-1, 16KOs).
This past Tuesday, it was revealed that Pascal suffered a hand injury and his handlers pulled him from the fight.
Stevenson's trainer, Emanuel Steward, was confident his boxer would knock Cloud out, says Michel.
Michel, who promotes both Stevenson and Pascal, tells BoxingScene that Cloud's handlers had obvious concerns about facing an explosive left-handed puncher on short notice.
Michel is working with Don King and Showtime to find a new date for Pascal-Cloud in the month of October.
However, Michel is involved in ongoing discussions with Showtime to have Stevenson-George headline a potential ShoBox date in August or early September.
