LAS VEGAS – Heavyweight prospect Ali Feliz hopes to return in May.
Feliz is set to fight on June 21 in Newark, New Jersey, but implied he could return even sooner.
Feliz, 5-0 (4 KOs), could land on the Raymond Muratalla-Zaur Abdullaev card on May 10 at the Pechanga Arena in San Diego. Feliz, 21, fought four times in his first year as a pro in 2024. He made his 2025 debut in February. It is clear, Feliz wants to fight often.
“More fights,” Feliz told BoxingScene. “I should be fighting in May, hopefully, and then in June. I am trying to stay busy.”
Feliz had a stellar 2023 as an amateur, winning the US National Championship in Lubbock, Texas, and Olympic Trials. USA Boxing’s qualifying system is now a points-based system as opposed to simply qualifying by winning the Olympic Trials, which meant that Joshua Edwards ended representing Team USA in the super heavyweight division instead. Feliz instead turned professional and signed a promotional deal with Top Rank.
“It was a lot of politics with the Olympic team. They showed me a lot, but I felt my style was best for the pros,” said Feliz of Danbury, Connecticut.
Feliz also acknowledged that he attended last Saturday’s fight card in support of junior bantamweight Steven Navarro and heavyweight Richard Torrez Jnr, both of whom he knows well.
The son of former fighter Fernely Feliz Snr, he described his fighting style this way: “I use my speed to my advantage. I don’t have the height other heavyweights have, but I use my speed and my power. It all comes together.”
