Arthur Abraham (35-3, 27KOs) says he achieved his dream on Saturday night at the O2 World Arena in Berlin, Germany. He won a twelve round unanimous decision over compatriot Robert Stieglitz to capture the WBO super middleweight championship. Abraham became a two-division world champion.
Abraham, 32, defended his IBF middleweight title 10 times between 2005 and 2009, and then he vacated the title for a move to 168-pounds - where he suffered three defeats.
"I am very proud and happy to win the belt. It was my dream. Over the past two years I suffered a series of setbacks, however, I also gained experience. I defeated a very strong opponent. And, [I did it] on points, although many thought that I could only win [this fight] by knockout," Abraham said.
"We both fought to the end. He did not want to lose his title, and I certainly wanted to take the title away. The fight was very hard. We both pushed our abilities to the limit."
