Arthur Biyarslanov and Imam Khataev will both defend their NABF titles at the Cabaret of the Montreal Casino on June 5, it was announced today by Eye of the Tiger.
Canada’s Biyarslanov, 18-0 (15 KOs), captured the NABF super lightweight title last June and has already defended it three times. In his most recent outing, the man known as ‘The Wolf’ dismantled former world champion Mohamed Mimoune inside a round. He is now currently ranked at 13 by the WBC.
Imam Khataev, 10-0 (9 KOs), is also on the fast track, albeit in the light heavyweight division rather than at super lightweight. He claimed his NABF title in only his sixth fight, having won a bronze medal at the 2021 Olympics, and has since then fought four times. He has fought in Quebec, Russia, and twice in Australia, easily dispatching world title contenders Ricards Bolotniks and Yunior Menendez, as well as Olympian Ezequiel Maderna and Argentine brawler Durval Palacio. He now returns to Montreal in June ranked seventh by the IBF and ninth by the WBC.
“Arthur and Imam are two athletes often compared to Artur Beterbiev. That says a lot about the level of boxing we’re lucky to have here, and the potential they possess. I have no doubt they represent the beginning of a great chapter for Quebec boxing,” said Eye of the Tiger president Camille Estephan.
