Eye of the Tiger will host a double-header on June 11 when Leila Beaudoin faces Paulina Angel and Wilkens Mathieu boxes Esquiva Falcao.
The latter bout was previously announced at the Théâtre Capitole in Quebec City but it has now been joined atop the card by the bout between Témiscouata’s Beaudoin and Colombia’s Angel for the interim WBA super featherweight title.
Beaudoin, 30 years old and 14-2 (2 KOs) defeated Victoria Bustos earlier this month and lost her previous bout, to Alycia Baumgardner, via decision over 12 three-minute rounds in December.
“I feel grateful for so many reasons,” said Beaudoin. “Returning to a world championship this quickly is already incredible, but being able to do it — for the first time — at home, in front of my people, is something else. I know many people will be behind me to support me, and I plan to thank them by winning my first world title on April 11.”
“This fight is the result of all the work Leïla has put in over the years,” said her trainer, Samuel Décarie-Drolet.
Angel is 7-2-2 (3 KOs) and a 24-year-old from Medellin.
On the same bill, unbeaten 168-pound southpaw Moreno Fendero, 14-0 (10 KOs) faces Puerto Rican puncher Jonathan Gonzalez, 21-1-1 (17 KOs), light heavyweight Thomas Chabot, 12-1 (8 KOs) meets Mehmet Unal, 15-0 (13 KOs), while there are also outings for Erik Israyelyan, 5-0 (3 KOs) and popular Trois-Rivières boxer Daylen Pepin, who is 2-0.
