Mexico City - WBC junior middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Álvarez (39-0-1, 29KOs) scored an easy fifth round stoppage win over former world welterweight champion Kermit Cintron. Alvarez started slow but picked up the pace when Cintron appeared to be visibly hurt and badly tired in the fifth round.

After the fight was over, the fans started chanting for Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., the WBC middleweight champion and Canelo's main rival in Mexico. Chants of "Chavez, Chavez, Chavez" and "Julio Cesar, Julio Cesar" rang out.

The Mexican fans are tired of waiting and want to see the two unbeaten boxers collide, but the fight is not close to a reality because Alvarez's promoter is demanding a catch-weight of 156-pounds, which is impossible for Julio Jr. to make.
