Bantamweight prospect Chantel Navarro had to pass a test in her first main event appearance in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Navarro won a unanimous decision over Perla Lomeli in the main event from the Chelsea at the Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas. The scores were 79-73 twice and 78-74.
The bout was elevated to the main event after an IBF junior middleweight eliminator bout between Brandon Adams and Caoimhin Agyarko was called off the day before.
Navarro, 22, started tense as the two fighters exchanged punches. The first round ended with a head clash. The two continued their 50-50 exchanges into the following round. Navarro targeted the body of the 25-year-old Lomeli, who pushed forward. Another head clash occurred in the third round, with Navarro getting a small cut over her eye.
In the fourth and fifth rounds, Lomeli of Mexicali, Mexico, began to up her punch volume, appearing to outwork Navarro. Navarro’s right hand was also extremely accurate and eye-catching.
Navarro fought a controlled tactical fight in her first scheduled eight-round bout, as Lomeli continued to throw, forcing Navarro to be judicious and accurate with her punches. The bout concluded with the two exchanging blows at close range.
Navarro of Glendale, California, is now 8-0 (3 KOs). Lomeli falls to 7-8 (1 KO).

Junior middleweight Michael Osumah stopped Segio Gil in the fourth round. The time of the stoppage was 2:31. Osumah, a 30-year-old from Las Vegas, landed a straight left hand that sent Gil to the canvas in the third round. The referee called the bout off when Osumah unleashed a flurry of punches on Gil, a 35-year-old from Santa Rosa, La Pampa, Argentina, who was unable to answer.
Osumah is now 11-0 (10 KOs), while the 35-year-old Gil falls to 22-16-2 (14 KOs).
Welterweight Brianda Tamara Cruz won a six-round unanimous decision over Crashonna Wynn. The scores were 60-54 on all three cards. Cruz, a 2021 Mexican Olympian, now trains with Marvin Somodio in Los Angeles. Cruz, 27, is now 5-0 (0 KOs), while Wynn, a 31-year-old from Cleveland, Ohio, is now 4-2 (2 KOs).
Featherweight Javier Zamarron won an eight-round unanimous decision over Ryan Allen. The scores were 78-74 on all three cards. Zamarron, a 25-year-old from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, trained by Robert Garcia, improves to 12-0 (5 KOs). Allen, of Las Vegas, is now 12-9-1 (6 KOs).
Lightweight Jalen Walker won an eight-round unanimous decision over Joaquin Faccio. The scores were 79-73 twice and 78-74. Walker, 24, was originally ruled to have knocked down Faccio with a left hand in the second round. It was overruled based on video replay between rounds. Walker, of Los Angeles, is now 16-1-1 (11 KOs). Faccio, a 21-year-old from Maldonado, Uruguay, falls to 9-1 (3 KOs).
Middleweight prospect Ebenezer Griffith knocked out Wayne Boudreaux in the sixth round. The time of the stoppage was 2:59. Griffith landed a left hook to Boudreaux’s body, forcing him to take a knee, spit out his mouthpiece, and get counted out. Griffith, a 23-year-old from Louisville, Kentucky, is now 8-0 (3 KOs), while Boudreaux, a 28-year-old from Marrero, Louisiana, is now 7-4 (4 KOs).
