Vladimir Hernandez took a split decision over Isaias Lucero in a 10-round junior middleweight fight Saturday at the Orange Show Events Center in San Bernardino, California.

Lucero knocked down Hernandez with an uppercut early in the second round. Hernandez survived, but he was behind 83-71 in power punch connects after five rounds. A big sixth round, in which Hernandez landed 26 power punches to Lucero’s 12, seemed to swing the fight in his favor. Lucero tired down the stretch, while Hernandez’s output stayed consistent. One judge scored the fight 95-94 for Lucero, while the other two judges scored the fight for Hernandez, 96-93 and 97-92.
