Tony Dodson will be in action again by the spring.

The Liverpool light heavyweight, who is a former British super middleweight champion, scored a knockdown en-route to a six-round victory earlier this month at the O2 Arena in London.

Dodson (32-8-1) scored a 59-56 points win against Richard Horton (on January 16, exclusively live on UKTV channel Dave.

And despite suffering two cuts and a broken right hand, which resulted in 16 stitches and an appointment with star surgeon Mike Hayton, the 35-year-old confirmed to BoxingScene that he will fight again in under four months.

He’s been granted a spot on the undercard of David Haye’s next fight, at the same venue in the capital –– the O2 Arena –– on May 21.

“I’ve spoken to the surgeon and he believes I’ll have enough time [to prepare for the fight after my operation],” Dodson told ‘Scene.

“I was sure that from day one I’d fight on the next Haye card and so it has proved, but I got my stitches out today from my cuts and go in next Tuesday (February 2) to have my knuckle tendon repaired.”

Dodson has been up at light heavyweight since returning to the ring last May, but having won domestic honours a division south at 168lbs, he says he’s open to offers.

“It depends what [Hayemaker Boxing] offer me as to what weight I can do, but with the right time I can do super middleweight.

“I do 12st 7lbs standing on my head, with absolutely no issue whatsoever, but if I’m to do super middle then I’ll need the right amount of time and notice.

“I’d love to fight for a title next, but like I said it all depends what they offer me.”

Tickets for the second instalment of David Haye’s return, which is promoted by Hayemaker Boxing, in association with Salter Brothers Entertainment, and licensed by the British Boxing Board of Control, go on pre-sale to O2 Priority customers at 9am on Wednesday, January 27 and will be on general sale from 9am on Friday, January 29 through AXS.com.
