Following up on a recent report on BoxingScene.com, there appears to be some interest in WBC flyweight champion Roman Gonzalez (41-0, 35KOs) defending his belt against former champion Edgar Sosa (51-8, 30KOs) of Mexico. Gonzalez would like a unification with WBO/WBA champion Juan Francisco Estrada, who seems to be heading into a rematch with Brian Viloria.
Soso has been approached about the fight and wants to have a tuneup in February before a potential Gonzalez clash.
"I would like make a tuneup fight in late February before a world championship fight against Roman 'Chocolatito' Gonzalez. It would be a very interesting fight that people would welcome very much. With me being a veteran and a quality champion like Román, it would be a great fight," Sosa said.
"I would need a special training camp [for Gonzalez]. I would choose different sparring partners, because of the enormous importance and significance of the fight, and respect for the opponent."
