France’s Emilie Sonvico won the vacant EBU welterweight title on Saturday night in Uzes, France when she knocked out Jordan Barker Porter in the 10th and final round.

The 36-year-old Sonvico, 6-0 (1KO), deserved to be well ahead on points after nine rounds and, apparently very confident of victory, showboated, kept her hands low and motioned Barker Porter towards her.

The Englishwoman then proceeded to walk into an explosive right hand that caught her flush on the chin, dropping her heavily.

The referee Giuseppe Quartarone of Italy immediately waved the fight over; the towel regardless also came in from the corner of Parker Porter, 9-4-1 (1KO) and 31 years old.
