In trying to earn the right to face IBF junior middleweight champion Bakhram Murtazaliev, both Erickson Lubin and Ardreal Holmes made weight ahead of their championship eliminator on Saturday in Florida.
They will meet at the Silver Spurs Arena in Kissimmee, on ProBox TV, after Holmes came in on the 154lbs limit with Lubin just inside at 153.4lbs.
Veteran southpaw Lubin, still only 29 and fighting in front of his hometown fans, is 26-2 (18 KOs), while Flint, Michigan’s Holmes is 17-0 (6 KOs), and also left-handed.
They fought in the amateurs, with Lubin winning a decision in his final fight before turning professional. They shared a bad-tempered exchange to finally announce the fight in Las Vegas in March.
