Junior middleweight Fernando Vargas Jnr made weight, but his opponent missed the mark ahead of their Saturday fight at Thunder Studios in Long Beach, California.

Vargas, of Las Vegas, scaled at 151.8lbs while Gonzalo Gaston Coria came in at 155.6lbs – well over the contracted weight of 154lbs.

Vargas, 16-0 (14 KOs), 28, is the eldest son of former titleholder Fernando Vargas. The younger Vargas, who fought three times last year, will be fighting for the first time in 2025.

Coria, 23-7 (9 KOs), 28, fought in December on the same card as Vargas, knocking out Raul Lizarraga. In 2022, Coria, an Argentinian now residing in Los Angeles, was stopped by Jaime Munguia in the most notable fight of his career.

Vargas-Coria will be streamed on DAZN.
