Don Haskins Center, El Paso, Texas -  IBF super bantamweight champion Carl Frampton (21-0, 14 KOs) overcome two knockdowns in the first round to win a twelve round unanimous decision over very game opponent Alejandro "Cobrita" Gonzalez Jr. (25-2-2, 15 KOs). The scores were 115-109, 116-108, 116-108.

After the first, Frampton adjusted his game plan and started boxing very well and picking his spots with hard shots to the head.

Gonzalez was very game, he never stopped punching and landed good punches to back Frampton up when needed. Gonzalez lost a point in the eleventh round for a low blow, and it wasn't the first low blow landed during the contest.

In the twelfth, Gonzalez came out with a fury by throwing everything in his tank. Frampton held him off, boxing smart and holding when necessary to stop Gonzalez's rush of shots.
