Italian Francesco Grandelli, a 31-year-old featherweight, will take on Spain’s Jose Antonio Sanchez Romero in a 10-rounder on December 20 in Turin, Italy.

Romero, who is based in Finland, is coming off a 12-round majority decision loss to unbeaten Frenchman, Christ Esabe, in March. In his only other noteworthy bout, 36-year-old Romero, 17-2-1 (6 KOs), was knocked out in the 10th round by Davide Tassi in 2023.

Grandelli, 20-4-2 (5 KOs), lost twice last year – albeit in good company, to Nathaniel Collins and Cristobal Lorente – but won rounds in both encounters before being beaten on points. In June, he took the unbeaten record of Simone Rao with a split decision after 10 rounds. The same rating-boosting WBO continental strap that was on the line there will be at stake against Romero.
