It was an early night for Gabriel Rosado on Saturday.

Rosado stopped Argentina’s Crispulo Javier Andino in the first round of the main event at Thunder Studios in Long Beach, California. The time of stoppage was 2 minutes, 30 seconds.

Rosado, a 39-year-old who trains in Los Angeles, returned to the ring after a two-and-a-half-year hiatus, taking a bout at light heavyweight. Rosado wasted no time as he hurt the 36-year-old Andino with a right hook to the body toward the end of the first round. That was followed by a clubbing right hook that sent Andino to the canvas, unable to get up.

After the fight, Rosado called out super middleweight Edgar Berlanga for an all-Puerto Rico showdown.

“We want Berlanga in Puerto Rico,” Rosado said after the fight.

Rosado improves to 27-17-1 (16 KOs), and Andino suffers his second straight first-round knockout as his record stands at 26-18-1 (12 KOs).

In the co-feature, junior lightweight Nathan Rodriguez of Pico Rivera, California, won an eight-round unanimous decision over Alexander Espinoza of Managua, Nicaragua. The scores were 79-73, 77-75, and 80-72.

Rodriguez, 20, improves to 20-0 (13 KOs), while Espinoza, 32, falls to 23-8-3 (8 KOs)

Also on the undercard, former junior bantamweight titleholder Jerwin Ancajas of Magallanes, Cavite, Philippines, now competing at junior featherweight, won an eight-round majority decision over Ruben Dario Casero of Colonia, Uruguay. The scores were 80-72 and 80-72, with one bizarre score of 76-76.

Ancajas, the 33-year-old southpaw, improves to 37-4-2 (24 KOs), while Casero, 32, falls to 13-5 (5 KOs).

Junior welterweight Stephanie Simon of Sherman Oaks, California, won a six-round unanimous decision over Argentina’s Marisa Joana Portillo. The scores are 60-54 on all three scorecards.

Simon, 30, improves to 4-0, while Portillo, 37, falls to 21-22-3 (4 KOs).
