Hebert Conceicao Sousa is set to headline on Friday against Johan Gonzalez at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, after both fighters made weight Thursday.
Sousa and Gonzalez tipped the scales at an identical 163.5 lbs for the ProBox TV main event.
Sousa, 10-0 (5 KOs), won a 10-round unanimous decision over Elias Espadas in December. A 28-year-old from Salvador, Bahia, Brazil, Sousa might be best known for winning a gold medal at the 2020 Olympics in the middleweight division. He knocked out Ukrainian favorite Oleksandr Khyzhniak in the final round of the gold medal match.
Gonzalez, 36-5 (34 KOs), holds a win over Jarrett Hurd last year. He was a last-minute replacement after unified middleweight beltholder Janibek Alimkhanuly tested positive for a banned substance. Gonzalez, a 34-year-old who trains in Las Vegas, lost to Lara via unanimous decision in December. In 2023, Gonzalez revived his career on ProBox TV with consecutive wins over Ricardo Villalba and Guido Schramm.
In the co-feature, junior middleweight Francisco Daniel Veron and Raul Garcia also came in at the same weight (153.5lbs).
Veron, 16-1-1 (10 KOs), is on a two-fight win streak since losing to Brandon Adams. A 27-year-old Argentinian fighter who trains in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Veron defeated Vladimir Hernandez and Roiman Villa in 2025. He is ranked No. 7 by the WBC heading into this bout.
Garcia, 15-2-1 (12 KOS), is coming off a massive win over unbeaten prospect Emiliano Moreno in September. Garcia, a 27-year-old from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, is also on a two-fight winning streak since losing consecutive bouts.
