Irish great Katie Taylor has said she plans to have one more fight before retiring this year.

Taylor is 25-1 ((6 KOs) and has an encyclopaedic list of amateur and professional accomplishments behind her, including Olympic gold, undisputed championships, multi-weight titles, having defeated everyone she’s faced as a pro (and having avenged her only loss, to Chantelle Cameron), and with her three-fight rivalry with Amanda Serrano having set records for attendances and viewership that likely won’t be broken for years.

But, speaking to RTE, the 39-year-old said she hoped for a final fight at Croke Park before retiring in 2026.

“We are still trying to figure the details out,” Taylor said, “but I do have one more fight this year. It’s kind of like my retirement fight. It has been an amazing journey, the whole lot of it, over these last 20 years.

“I just want to fight in Dublin to end my career. Obviously we are still hoping for Croke Park, hanging on to a bit of hope that it can happen… Fighting my last fight in our most iconic arena, how special would that be? I think it would be absolutely remarkable if I was able to do that. I’m not sure if it’s going to happen or not. Either way, I’ll be ending my career here and I’m very excited about that.”
