The mandatory fight between WBA 'regular' junior middleweight champion Jack Culcay (22-1, 11KOs) and challenger Demetrius Andrade (23-0, 16KOs) is heading back to a purse bid.
Sauerland Event, who promote Culcay, won the WBA's previous purse bid on August 15th, and informed the sanctioning body of their intention to stage the fight between Culcay and Andrade on their November 5th card in Potsdam which featured a WBA title fight between Giovanni De Carolis and Tyrone Zeuge.
Because of numerous delays in reaching a finalized deal with Andrade and his team, the fight was scratched from the show.
The second purse bid for this fight will take place on the morning of December 15 at the WBA's offices in Panama.
Expect the same scenario as the last time, with Sauerland winning the bid - because there is a 75-25 split in favor of the champion. Last time out, Sauerland offered up $425,144.00 - while Banner Promotions, who handle Andrade, dropped $201,000.00.
Andrade returned to the ring back in June after a layoff since last October. He dominated and stopped tough contender Willie Nelson in the twelfth round in his Showtime televised debut from the Turning Stone Resort and Casino in Verona, New York. Nelson was down four times in the fight before it was waved off.
Culcay retained his title last December with a dominant twelve round decision win over Dennis Hogan. He came back to action in April, and stopped once-beaten Jean Carlos Prada in nine rounds of action.
Also up for bid that day, a mandatory featherweight clash between WBA interim-champion Carlos Zambrano (26-0, 11KOs) and mandatory challenger Claudio Marrero (21-1, 15KOs). The minimum bid will be $100,000 and the split will also favor the champion at 75-25.
