Irish lightweight Jamie Kavanagh was arrested earlier this month on a charge from an alleged incident dating back to September 2014, according to The Sunday World.

Kavanagh has been charged with one count of violent disorder, which accuses him of “[using] or [threatening] to use violence to cause others to fear for their safety” outside of a hotel in Dublin that would not allow Kavanagh and those with him inside, the newspaper said. Kavanagh had been in the city for his father's funeral and allegedly was part of a fight in which hotel staff were assaulted.

The 25-year-old turned pro in 2010, won his first eight fights before being held to a draw against Ramesis Gil in 2011, then won seven more bouts before suffering his first pro loss, getting knocked out in six rounds by Daniel Ruiz in 2013. He’d come back with five victories since, bringing his record to 20-1-1 with 10 KOs.

Kavanagh had turned pro under Golden Boy Promotions and had been referenced in a press release from the promoter back in March, when he beat Miguel Zamudio. The Golden Boy website no longer lists him. A July article on Irish-Boxing.com has Kavanagh saying he turned down another offer from Golden Boy and instead wanted to return closer to home and his newborn child.

Kavanagh has had two fights in Europe since then, fighting in London (where he lives) in September and in Dublin (where he’s originally from) in November.

He was actually set to fly back to London following his boxing match in Dublin when police arrested him, the article said.
