The career of murderous punching Puerto Rican slugger Jonathan "Mantequilla" Gonzalez (9-0, 9 KOs) has gained even more momentum now that famed promoter Gary Shaw of Gary Shaw Productions has joined with Leon R. Margules of Warriors Boxing and Javier Bustillo of Universal Promotions to promote the 21 year old.
Known as the "Next Puerto Rican Superstar", Gonzalez has followed up on his impressive amateur career by tearing through his first nine opponents in devastating fashion.
"When Leon, Javier and I discussed the idea of joining forces to promote Gonzalez, I knew it was the right move," said Shaw of the promotional deal. "I've had my eye on this kid since his amateur days. You could tell back then he was going to be a sensational pro."
Gonzalez has remained a fearsome new force in the welterweight division, even as his competition has gotten tougher. In his last fight, he battered 12-3 Abel Sanchez before stopping him in six.
"Gary and his expertise are invaluable assets to the career of Jonathan Gonzalez and we're thrilled he has signed on," added Margules of the deal. "We plan on fast tracking this kid to the world championship and the superstardom he is destined for."
Gonzalez is next scheduled to face Carlos Pena on a card at the Centro de Convenciones in Guayama, Puerto Rico, on October 29.
