Justin Figueroa will temporarily abandon his comfort zone to advance his career.

The popular and fast rising junior middleweight from Atlantic City, New Jersey will hit the road for his first main event regional title fight. Figueroa, 12-0 (10 KOs) faces Jarrod Tennant atop the August 23 “San Antonio Summer Showdown” event from Boeing Center at Tech Port in San Antonio, Texas.

Their scheduled eight-round contest will come with the junior version of the NABF 154lbs title at stake. The bout is a natural course of progression for Figueroa who also enters his first eight-round affair after tearing through the four- and six-round level.

The ten-fight card is presented by Desi Martinez Promotions and Fighters First Management. Both entities partnered together for an event at this very venue last March, which also featured Figueroa in a six-round points win.

“I’m excited to partner once again with Desi Martinez Promotions for our second event together,” said Jolene Mizzone, president of Fighters First Management. “Desi and his team are truly great to work with—it’s refreshing to collaborate with a promoter who truly ‘gets it.’ I can’t wait to see Justin Figueroa in his first main event title fight.”

Figueroa has emerged as a prospect to watch in a red-hot division. He has also caught attention for his in-ring, post-fight “worm” celebration after every win – an act he’s had the pleasure of performing after each of his 12 bouts to date.

The 26-year-old prospect carries a four-fight knockout streak into the ring. Ironically, his last fight to go the distance was in his previous appearance in San Antonio, when he repeatedly dropped Christian Aguirre but had to settle for a lopsided decision victory.

Among those featured on the undercard, budding contender Justin Pauldo, 18-2 (9 KOs) takes on Tanzania’s Said Chino, 25-12-2 (16 KOs), who is riding a six-fight win streak.

Regional favorites Javier Rodriguez, Edward Ortiz, Ethan Perez, Joseph Aljamdi, Jose Sanchez, Jesus Martinez, Oliver Guerrero and Isaac Bermean round out the show.

“I believe Justin Pauldo is just one step away from facing the biggest names in the 135-pound division,” insisted Mizzone. “I’m also looking forward to watching Joseph Aljamdi showcase his skills for the fans—he’s definitely one to watch for in the future.

“Let’s not forget about all the San Antonio talent that is being showcased on the card as well.”
