Kenshiro Teraji remained a model of consistency at the scales.
The two-division unified champ and reigning WBA/WBC flyweight titlist has weighed below the divisional limit in all of his eighteen title fights. The latest disciplined effort by the pound-for-pound came Tuesday, when Teraji weighed 111.5lbs, while challenger Ricardo Sandoval was also under the limit at 111.75pounds.
Their scheduled 12-round contest headlines a title fight tripleheader. DAZN (U.S./U.K.) and U-Next (Japan) will stream the event live, beginning at 5:50 a.m. ET/10:50 a.m. BST from Yokohama Buntai in Yokohama, Japan. ESPN Knockout will also air the show in Latin America.
Teraji, 25-1 (16 KOs) will attempt his second overall flyweight defense and his first as a unified titlist. The bout comes four months after his thrilling 12th round stoppage of Seigo Yuri Akui to claim the WBA belt and retain his WBC title on March 13 in Tokyo.
Sandoval, 26-2 (18 KOs) enters his first career title fight and just his second pro contest outside of North America. The previous trip abroad was arguably his finest hour to date, when the 26-year-old from Rialto, California stopped Jay Harris in the eighth round of their June 2021 IBF 112lbs title eliminator in Bolton, England.
The good fortune was squandered in a split decision defeat to David Jimenez in their July 2022 title eliminator in Los Angeles. Six wins have since followed for Sandoval.
Teraji previously reigned as the lineal, WBA and WBC 108lbs champion before he moved up in weight last year.
