France’s Mourad Aliev is to challenge the European heavyweight champion Labinot Xhoxhaj in Hamburg, Germany on June 7.

The fight venue is to be confirmed; the contest between the 29-year-old Aliev and his Kosovan opponent, 32, is regardless being promoted by Ismail Ozen and Ahmet Oner.

“Aliev is one of the most spectacular young heavyweights at the moment,” Oner said. “If he wins this fight, he will be right in the mix for a world title and cannot be overlooked anymore.“

I used to live in Hamburg. And Ismail and [promotional organisation] Universum are based here. Hamburg has always been the German boxing capital, hosted lots of big fights in the past and has some of the best fans in Germany.”

“This will be the biggest heavyweight bout in Hamburg since the days when the Klitschkos fought here,” Ozen said. “It is a huge comeback for the city and for boxing in Germany in general.”
