Liam Wilson scored another victory over Youssef Dib, this time outscoring him over 10 rounds at the South Bank Plaza in South Brisbane.
They had boxed last July, with Wilson winning via eighth-round stoppage, but this time Dib went the distance.
It did not look like he would in the early going, as Dib was dropped in the first and second rounds, but he warmed into the fight as it went in and lost on the cards by margins of 95-92 and two cards of 96-91.
Junior lightweight contender Wilson, still only 28 and a veteran of battles with Emanuel Navarrete and Oscar Valdez, improved to 15-3 (8 KOs) while Dib drops to 21-3 (11 KOs).
Elsewhere on the No Limits show, which saw Tim Tszyu and Keith Thurman on commentary ahead of their upcoming fights in Australia, John Mannu scored a third-round stoppage of Jalen Tait. Mannu floored Tait initially with a pair of big southpaw left hands and the fight was stopped as he followed up to finish the job with Tait falling into the ropes.
Mannu, who claimed a regional IBF belt at junior welterweight, then called out Liam Paro, who was ringside.
“Aussie level stuff,” said former IBF champion Paro. “He’s got to earn his stripes, but I’m the man in this division. The 140 king in Australia. No one comes close.”
Super-middleweight prospect Jack Bowen defeated Abilkhaiyar Shegaliev over eight rounds to improve to 11-1 (8 KOs) and Brianna Harrison won the Australian super flyweight belt in a fight of the year contender with Nicila Costello, whom she outpointed over eight rounds.
At cruiserweight, Floyd Masson improved to 15-2 (8 KOs) by decisively outscoring Nigeria’s Austine Nnamdi, who is now 11-5 (10 KOs) in an eight-rounder and Brisbane featherweight Vegas Larfield is 12-1 (9 KOs) after outpointing Chinese journeyman GuiMing Li, 6-7-1 (2 KOs), over six rounds.
