BELL, CALIF. --- Mexican legend Juan Manuel Marquez and Mike Alvarado meet in catchweight bout at 144 pounds on Saturday night at The Forum on HBO, and there has been speculation that the winner will face Manny Pacquiao next.
If Marquez beats Alvarado, that would be a fifth fight against Pacquiao. Marquez and Pacquiao fought to a split draw in the first fight, Pacquiao took a controversial split decision in the second fight, Pacquiao won a majority decision in the third fight and Marquez scored a sixth-round KO in the fourth fight.
Marquez isn't exactly excited about a fifth fight against Pacquiao, but he did leave the door slightly open for the possibility of a fifth fight against Pacquiao.
"I don't know," Marquez said. "I don't know what's going to happen in (the) future. I always say the present is the most important. The present is (this) Saturday. The present is Mike Alvarado. I don't know what's (going to) happen in the future, but, maybe, if I win the fight, maybe, the fifth (world) title, maybe, yes."
