Former champion Roman "Rocky" Martinez (28-2-2, 17 KOs) confirmed a recent report by BoxingScene.com and said a planned fight with WBO super featherweight champion Orlando "Siri" Salido (42-12-2, 29 KOs) was very close for April 11th in Puerto Rico.
"I'll meet with [promoter] Peter [Rivera]. Negotiations are going ahead but the exact date I do not know. I have no problems with April 11. I hope the fight is here. It will be a fight that is pleasing for the public and very exciting. And being honest it could end by knockout by either party because we are going to fight for real. And so I'll take the fight. It is at 130. I have the strength and height [advantage] and it will end by knockout," Martinez said.
"I will give the best of myself in there and win by knockout. I will go in there in tremendous condition. The assaults will be a give and take with the audience there screaming. I will prepare well and have the right strategy from my corner."
