Floyd Mayweather Jr. is again feeding the hype for a clash with UFC superstar Conor McGregor.

McGregor has been talking for some time of wanting a fight with Mayweather. He said on Saturday that Mayweather would be his only focus.

Mayweather responded in a Showtime interview.

"I believe the fight can happen," Mayweather said. "Conor McGregor is a tough competitor. He proved throughout the years in the UFC that he can fight standing up. We'll just have to see what the future holds."

McGregor said that Mayweather wasn't the A-side in terms of money, but rather was "the scared side." Mayweather took the high road, talking himself up without tearing McGregor down this time.

"We know I'm the A-side. Of course it shows throughout the years, so many record-breaking numbers that we have done. We'll just see what the future holds. Hopefully we can make the fight happen. ... Can we make this fight happen? Absolutely. That's what everyone wants to see. Hopefully Showtime pay-per-view, we can make it happen."

Mayweather said the weight for any McGregor clash would probably be either 147 or 150. McGregor's time in the UFC has come anywhere from the 145-pound division in that sport to the 170-pound weight class.

"I truly believe the fans want this fight. The fans have been asking for this fight," Mayweather said. "It's all about entertainment. He's very entertaining. He's very outspoken, like myself. Let's give the fans what they want to see."
