Mary Spencer and Mikaela Mayer both made the 154lbs weight limit with room to spare, ahead of their unified junior-middleweight championship showdown.
Defending WBA titleholder Spencer, 10-2 (6 KOs), came in at 152.8lbs, while Mayer, 21-2 (5 KOs), was even lighter at 151lbs. The fight, which headlines an Eye of the Tiger Management/Top Rank promoted card on Thursday at Casino de Montreal, will also have two additional vacant world titles at stake, as the WBO and WBC junior-middleweight titles recently vacated by Cecilia Braekhus will be on the line.
Mayer, 35, of Woodland Hills, California, is moving up in weight after one defense of her WBO welterweight title, while Spencer, 40 and of Montreal, is making her second defense of the title.
In the co-featured bout, Wilkens Mathieu weighed 167.6lbs while Shakeel Phinn weighed 166.9lbs for their all-Quebec super middleweight showdown. The 20-year-old Mathieu, 14-0 (10 KOs), is fighting in his first 10-round bout; the 34-year-old Phinn, 27-3-2 (17 KOs), is looking to stretch his unbeaten streak to seven in a run that has involved him drawing with the 32-0 Erik Bazinyan.
