Former heavyweight champion Oleg Maskaev is the target of a promotional tug of war in Russia. Kirill Pchelnikov announced that Maskaev would be part of a show on December 30th, but over the weekened promoter Vladimir Hryunov announced his intention to stage a fight involving Maskaev on the December 17th event which features a cruiserweight fight between WBA champion Denis Lebedev and Colombian Santaderom Silgado.
Pchelnikov says there is no chance that Maskaev will fight on December 17th.
"Vladimir Hryunov had wishful thinking: Maskaev will not be able to fight on both shows, on December 17 and 30th. We talked to Maskaev literally five minutes ago. We have a good business relationship, a contract, and on Tuesday we will announce the name of his opponent."
