Last week, Olympic gold medal winner Oleksandr Usyk (10-0, 9KOs) reached his potential by traveling to Poland and capturing the WBO cruiserweight title with a twelve round decision over previously undefeated Krzysztof Glowacki.

According to the General Director of K2 Promotions in Ukraine, Alexander Krasyuk, the first defense of Usyk is being targeted for December - and the fight will take place in in December 10th in New York City of December 24 in Kiev, Ukraine.

If the fight goes to December 10, he is likely being position to appear on the planned card for IBF/IBO/WBC/WBA middleweight champion Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin, who is also promoted by K2 Promotions.

There are ongoing talks for Golovkin to defend his titles against mandatory challenger Daniel Jacobs on December 10 in New York. The venues in play are the Barclays Center in Brooklyn and Madison Square Garden in Manhattan.

"I will let you in on a little secret, we have two options for Usyk's next fight which we are considering. And, accordingly, there are two possible dates - December 24 in Kiev or December 10 in New York. I like both options. What fight is more profitable? It will be necessary to assess all of the aspects of these options. But in my heart the desire is to stage the fight in Kiev," Krasyuk said.

"But one of the downsides with fight in Kiev is the lack of arenas. Usyk has outgrown the level of what's needed to accommodate everyone at the Sports Palace. We don't want to raise the ticket prices to a dizzying level, because we do not want to disrespect the fans. A cool alternative would a stadium fight, but in the winter it will be cold, of course."
