Featherweight contender Orlando 'The Phenomenon' Cruz (20-4-1 10 KOs) of Puerto Rico, who plans to be active  in the ring for a couple of more years, began working on Monday as a boxing trainer at a gym in the city of San Germán, in the western part of Puerto Rico. The former Olympian said it was one of his dreams to hand over the knowledge he acquired in his youth to prospects in the country.

"I'll be on both sides. I'm still active and I am realistic. At this stage there is two more years [for me] and I know there are great prospects coming up," Cruz said. "It's one of my dreams, to teach what they taught to me since childhood. And they are equal to or better than me. I want to pass on my knowledge. It'm very happy with this new opportunity and hope to create several contenders and champions."

The charismatic fighter has gone 4-4 in his last eight bouts where he has fought for a global or regional title.

"I hope to be fighting in April or May. I will continue at 126 pounds but if there is a good opportunity at 130, I would consider it. I can do that weight too. I have an excellent team and a family that supports me."
