Pavel Sosulin stopped Australian challenger Victor Nagbe after the visitor failed to come out for the ninth round in the main event of WINLINE IBA Pro 15 at the KSK Arena in Saint Petersburg.
Sosulin, the WBA’s No. 1 ranked junior-middleweight contender, retained his IBA Intercontinental title with a dominant display.
The Melbourne southpaw started well enough but Sosulin kept the pressure on, worked the body and the challenger started to wilt and eventually he was withdrawn by his corner and was stopped for the first time as he falls to 12-2 (6 KOs).
Sosulin is now 13-0 (7 KOs).
“To everyone who came to watch the fights live — I hope you enjoyed them,” said Sosulin. “I’m glad to be fighting again in my hometown of Saint Petersburg. It means a lot to me that so many people who care about my boxing came to support me.”
“Today Sosulin took another step closer to a world title, he is ranked number one with the WBA and is Xander Zayas’ mandatory challenger. We want that fight next,” said the IBA’s Al Siesta.
In the co-main event, Vladimir Mironchikov won the vacant WBA Asia super-middleweight title by outscoring Uzbekistan’s Ulugbek Sobirov over 10 rounds, winning by margins of 99-91 (twice) and 98-92.
Georgian light-heavyweight prospect Giorgii Kushitashvili defeated Tanzania’s Yusufu Changarawe in the fifth round of their scheduled eight-round contest.
Kushitashvili, a two-time IBA World Championship bronze medalist and Paris 2024 Olympian, often hurt Changarawe to the body and a pair of right crosses sent the African to the deck.
Afterwards, Kushitashvili challenged WBA world-ranked contender Sharabutdin Ataev, and urged IBA president Umar Kremlev to make the fight happen.
“I want to address Sharabutdin Ataev. I’m calling you out: take the fight! I beat you twice. I believe I won the third fight too,” said Kushitashvili. “Umar Nazarovich, I’m asking you: please make this fight happen. He has to take this fight if he’s a real mountain man. Accept the fight and step into the ring, we’ll settle everything there.”
The current IBA World Amateur champion made his IBA Pro debut to take an eight-round decision over Kazakh left-hander Nurtas Azhbenov, winning by 80-71 on all three cards.
Unbeaten 160-pounder Nikita Kuzmin defeated Armenia’s game Vakhtang Harutyunyan in their six-round IBA Pro contest, the judges returning scorecards of 59-55 (twice) and 60-54.
Saint Petersburg’s Tamerlan Ozdoev stopped Dastan Saduuly at the end of the fourth round while Eduard Savvin is unbeaten in three with three stoppages after a first-round win over the Democratic Republic of Congo’s Aime Malungilua.
Junior middleweight prospect Sergey Koldenkov, a 2025 IBA World Championship silver medalist, stopped Cuba’s Abel Lima in the second round and looked impressive. The Cuban was saved when his corner through in the towel and, at heavyweight, Svetoslav Teterin stopped Uzbek Jamshid Khudoyberganov in the fourth round.
