Sampson Lewkowicz was delighted with his lightweight contender Luis “Kureano” Torres following his third-round stoppage of former featherweight world champion Nicholas Walters.
With the victory, Torres improved to 21-1 (12 KOs) and the Mexican, from Ciudad Obregon, Sonora, impressed on his American debut at the Thunder Studios in Long Beach, California.
Walters dropped to 29-2-1 (22 KOs) having been outgunned by the skilled left-hander.
Going into the fight, Walters was expected to give the 23-year-old a tough night, but he was forced to take a knee towards the end of the third and did not come out for Round Four.
“’Koreano' Torres was sensational,” said Sampson Boxing boss Sampson Lewkowicz. “With this victory he has put the lightweight division on notice and gained thousands of new fans. Only the all-time-great [Vasiliy] Lomachenko was able to do that to Walters before this. Thank you to Garry Jonas of ProBox TV, which has established itself as the streaming service with consistently the best fights in boxing and as a springboard outlet for the Premier Boxing Champions stars of tomorrow.”
