Queensberry Promotions expect to sign promotional terms with the free agent Joshua Buatsi, finally putting him on course for a future fight with Anthony Yarde.

The light heavyweight's agreement with Boxxer concluded with his bruising defeat in February by Callum Smith, as Ben Shalom's promotional organisation confirmed on Tuesday.

He is in talks with Queensberry — his departure from Matchroom to Boxxer was particularly acrimonious — and therefore on course to join the same stable as Yarde.

Buatsi, 32, and Yarde, his fellow Londoner, were being lined up for a fight at a soccer stadium in the English capital in 2024.

He instead fought Smith earlier in 2025 — Smith inflicted his first defeat — and, more recently, Yarde agreed to fight David Benavidez for the WBC light-heavyweight title on November 22.
