Peter McGrail has a new opponent for his junior featherweight bout on the undercard of Oleksandr Usyk-Tyson Fury II. His previous ring partner, Dennis McCann, fell out after testing positive for an unspecified banned substance. McGrail will now face Rhys Edwards, as confirmed by Turki Alalshikh via social media post.
“It is now confirmed that Peter McGrail will stay on this Saturday’s card to face unbeaten British Contender Rhys Edwards as part of the #Usyk2Fury rematch undercard,” Alalshikh wrote on X, punctuating the news with his trademark fire and boxing glove emojis, and posting a ticket link underneath. The bout is scheduled to be the fifth on the undercard.
Edwards, like McCann, is 16-0 – though he has four knockouts to McCann’s eight. And like McCann, he is from the UK – though he is 24 years old to McCann’s 23. In his last fight, Edwards won a comfortable unanimous decision over Thomas Patrick Ward.
McGrail, 10-1 (6 KOs), had seen the only blemish on his record come by knockout loss to Ja’Rico O’Quinn. He has rebounded with two wins and will look to add a third against Edwards.
