Timothy Shipman, the Florida State Athletic Commission (FSAC) executive director, has been appointed as the new president of the Association of Boxing Commissions and Combative Sports (ABC) at their annual conference in New Orleans.
He will follow Mike Mazzulli, who held the position for 10 years and did not seek re-election. He retains his position as the director of the Mohegan Tribe in Uncasville, a role he has held for more than 22 years.
The role of president of the ABC is an important one. The non-profit organization was designed to unite combat sports regulators in North America and beyond, with its key objectives to strive for improvement in all areas of combat sports through the enforcement of laws while enhancing health and safety.
Shipman’s experience in combat sports in Florida began in 2005 and he has been the FSAC executive director since June 2023. Before that, he was the assistant executive director for almost seven years.
He is a member of the Florida MMA Hall of Fame, as well as the Florida Boxing Hall of Fame.
