Former IBF super flyweight champion Juan Alberto "Topo" Rosas took part in a cowardly attack on a young stablemate of Mexican superstar Saul "Canelo" Alvarez. Jesus "El Negrito" Silvestre is one of the up and coming prospects under contract with Canelo Promotions. 

During an amateur event in Guadalajara, Rosas and Silvestre traded words and argued for unknown reasons, but after the event was over and "El Negrito" was headeding to the parking lot - Juan Alberto and eight more individuals surrounded Silvestre and gave him a terrible beating. Jesus ended up in the hospital, according to Eddy Reynoso - the trainer and manager of Sivestre and Canelo Alvarez.

''Those are things that should not happen between profesional fighters and even less when Silvestre is a guy that does no harm to anyone, and attacking him with eight guys is a cowardly act by Topo Rosas," Eddy Reynoso told BoxingScene.com
 
''That is a lack of professionalism. They share the same profession, the same job and that is a set back for Silvestre. We are going to seek legal advice. Topo has to be responsible for his actions. He should be banned for what he did. He is not good for the sport. Plus, to involve eight more guys to beat a single man is a shame."
 
Reynoso is currently preparing Canelo Alvarez for his WBC super welterweight title defense against Ryan Rhodes, which takes place on June 18.
