Chris Eubank Jnr’s trainer, Johnathon Banks, saw a fight of two halves in his fight against Conor Benn.

After 12 brutal rounds, Eubank Jnr won on all three cards by 116-112, and talk instantly swirled over a rematch.

“I thought it really became tooth-and-nail from seven to 12, but from one to six I think it was showing Eubank’s boxing pedigree was what it was,” Banks told Boxing Social. “His left hand controlled the fight. He kept that jab out there, kept shooting that hook, it was just what we worked on.”

But the fight was hard-fought all the way through and Eubank’s output over the final three rounds – according to CompuBox he threw more than 100 punches in each of the last three sessions – was exceptional.

Banks said he and Eubank Jnr had prepared for it to be tough.

“I knew what to expect so nothing shocked me,” said Banks. “I had prepared for battle. I prepare for everything so I’m not shocked by anything… I knew how strong he [Benn] was coming forward.

“I’m very [proud of Eubank] because he put in the work to get the victory."
