In a telephone conversation with the Ukraine press, Olympic champion Vasyl Lomachenko announced that he officially signed a promotional contract with Top Rank. He will make his debut on October 12th as part of Timothy Bradley-Juan Manuel Marquez undercard at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas. The boxer denied Jose Ramirez as the opponent in October. He will, however, go for a title in January 2014. He wants to set a world record by winning a world title in his second pro fight.

The 25-year-old left-hander, who was born in the Odessa region, won gold medals at the 2008 and 2012 Olympics. He has also won two world boxing titles in 2009 and 2011, along with European championship's gold medal in 2008. Lomachenko has an impressive amateur record losing his only bout to Russia's Albert Selimov in the 2007 world championship final, which the fighter later avenged.
