Undefeated welterweight world champion Errol Spence Jr. retained his IBF title with an impressive stoppage of former two-division champion Lamont Peterson in the main event of SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING Saturday night from Barclays Center, the home of BROOKLYN BOXING®.
In his first defense since dethroning Kell Brook on SHOWTIME last May, Spence (23-0, 20 KOs) out boxed a tough Peterson(35-4-1, 17 KOs) from start to finish, showcasing a wide array of skills, speed and power. The fight was stopped prior to the start of the eighth round after Peterson's trainer, Barry Hunter, called for the stoppage.

That's a lie. He didn't say it like that. He told hunter its his choice to make the call if he wants . He didn't say "I'm done" either. He said I'm good. He clearly wanted to fight

Fake news! We could all hear what Peterson and Hunter said in the corner. Showtime had microphones there.
After round 6 Peterson was extremely frustrated, coach said he didn't like how he performed, Peterson said he's losing every round and it doesn't make sense, coach tried to tell him to use the jab, Peterson still frustrated. Hunter then said after the next round he'd take him out of the fight, Peterson said "okay" and agreed to fighting one more round.
Then after the 7th Peterson came back and Hunter didn't talk about quitting anymore so Peterson said "I'm done!" "make the call" so Hunter finally pulled him out.
Peterson quit.
