Unified junior lightweight unified titleholder Alycia Baumgardner won a 10-round unanimous decision over Bo Mi Re Shin on Friday at Madison Square Garden Theater in New York City.

Baumgardner, 18-1 (7 KOs), is now unbeaten for nearly eight years and headlined Most Valuable Promotions’ second card of their recent ESPN deal, and their first in the United States. Baumgardner, a 31-year-old from Fremont, Ohio, won her first title via knockout against Terri Harper in 2021. A year later, she would pick up a career-defining win over Mikaela Mayer via split decision.

So what is next for Baumgardner?

5. Amelia Moore

Record: 4-0 (1 KO)

Chances of happening: 5 per cent

Level of excitement: 6/10

A long shot since Moore is relatively unknown, but she holds an amateur win over Baumgardner and has fought from junior lightweight to junior welterweight.

4. Caroline Veyre

Record: 11-1

Chances of happening: 10 per cent

Level of excitement: 4/10

Veyre won the WBC junior lightweight title that Baumgardner vacated. Veyre had an underwhelming title win against Delfine Persoon, which makes the anticipation for such a fight mild. Still, it is a chance for her to become a two-time undisputed champion.

3. Katie Taylor

Record: 25-1 (6 KOs)

Chances of happening: 25 per cent

Level of excitement: 9/10

Taylor is the most high-profile fighter Baumgardner could potentially face. Taylor hasn’t fought since defeating Serrano in July and is plotting one last contest, which is all but guaranteed to take place in Ireland. Baumgardner would have to move up in weight to face Taylor. Though it would be a terrific matchup, it’s a long shot.

2. Amanda Serrano

Record: 48-4-1 (31 KOs)

Chances of happening: 10 per cent

Level of excitement: 7/10

Serrano is a legend and also one of the figureheads of MVP (Baumgardner’s promoter). Serrano has fought in multiple weight classes and had a trilogy, losing all three 10-round bouts to Katie Taylor. A fight against Baumgardner would be as huge as it is unlikely.

1. Caroline Dubois

Record: 13-0-1 (6 KOs)

Chances of happening: 50 per cent

Level of excitement: 8/10

The best match-up that could be made at or around Baumgardner’s weight class. Dubois is an up-and-coming titleholder who fights at lightweight, and Baumgardner has cleared out her division. It might already be a case of not if this fight happens, but when.
