SAN BERADINO, Calif – Brian “BoMac” McIntrye has little doubt Terence Crawford will shock the world should he fight Canelo Alvarez in September.

The two are on a collision course to meet in Las Vegas, but the Mexican must first come through William Scull in Saudi Arabia in May.

“Listen, man, we’re going to win. We’re going to win. We’re going to win,” said McIntrye.

The trainer had just seen his super middleweight hope Lester Martinez defeat Joeshon James, and when asked whether Martinez would make a good Canelo impersonator, he replied: “And we’re definitely gonna use him for sparring.”

Crawford has had just one fight at 154 on his way up to 168 (from 147) where he meets Canelo, but McIntrye said it is a fight where size won’t matter.

“No, I’m not worried about size,” he said. “I’m not worried about that. Terence got a great eye at boxing and a great boxing IQ. The only person who can beat Terence is himself. Of course, it’s human nature to be worried… And with a great guy like Canelo. But knowing how Bud is, knowing what he’s capable of doing – and I know he’s doing this for legacy, and he wanted to do this to prove everybody wrong – he’ll be all right.”

Asked whether this was a bigger challenge than Errol Spence, arguably Crawford’s previous best win, McIntyre nodded: “Fuck yeah. Oh yeah. Just look at the level of accomplishments.”

Then, asked whether Crawford, who turns 38 in September, could bow out having had the “legacy” fight and sail off into the sunset, McIntrye said: “Fuck yeah. It probably could [be the last one]. It probably could. Yeah. Probably could.”
