Moments after Oleksandr Usyk added the IBF strap to his collection having defeated Daniel Dubois a second time, former foe Tyson Fury posted on social media running the streets of Morecambe.
It was the middle of the night, and through the darkness, while he ran, Fury said: “Massive shoutout to Oleksandr Usyk. Did a fantastic performance tonight over Daniel Dubois. A good young game lad who came for a good tear up. So congratulations to both men. Oleksandr Usyk knows there’s only one man that can beat him, I’ve done it twice before, and the world knows it. I’ve been fucked good and proper, without any Vaseline on and took it like a man, and here’s me, not fucking around at some boxing match, I’m out on the fucking road running. I’m running tonight. I come home, I’ve done my job and I got myself back, I am the man. I’m the fucking spartan. No matter what anyone wants to say, and I fucking won them fights. Guaranteed, 100 per cent, there’s only one-man GK [Gypsy King] all day every day.”
Fury was one of a line of fighters trying to beat their way to Usyk’s door.
In the ring after Usyk’s victory, Joseph Parker, the WBO’s No. 1 approached the undisputed champion.
“Usyk,” said Parker. “Well done. Congratulations. You look good, man. You look very good. Me next?”
“Bro, I don’t know,” Usyk replied. “You don’t understand, I want to rest.”
“Have a rest, have a holiday, see your family and your kids.”
Jake Paul had also got into the ring and had a stare down with Usyk and later proposed that he would beat Anthony Joshua to get to Usyk.
“First AJ, then you. Book it,” was his message on social media.
In the build-up to the Dubois rematch, Usyk said he would box the Londoner and have one more fight before retiring.
