SAN BERNARDINO, California – Isia Sio, a women’s junior bantamweight opening Saturday’s ProBox TV card, was knocked out by a powerful flurry from Jocelyn Camarillo and taken from the National Orange Show grounds on a stretcher.
Camarillo, of California’s Coachella Valley, unleashed hurtful body blows to North Dakota’s Sio, then blasted a series of right and left hands to Sio’s head, dropping her, with the fight ending 1 minute, 18 seconds into the first round.
Sio, 19, stayed down in a neutral corner after the finish by Camarillo, 6-0 (4 KOs), and was seen convulsing as she was wheeled quickly from the ring.
Sio was taken immediately to Loma Linda University Health medical center, officials said.
BoxingScene will have more information on Sio’s condition as details warrant.
