Terry Washington was far from terrible on Friday night.

Washington stopped Eduardo Reyes in the second round in their junior flyweight main event at Thunder Studios in Long Beach, California.

The time of stoppage was 2 minutes, 6 seconds.

Washington – nicknamed “Terrible” Terry – asserted himself quickly, and Reyes appeared shocked by the talent gap as his opponent’s hand speed was on full display. Washington dropped Reyes with an overhand left in the first round, and the onslaught continued until Reyes’ corner threw in the towel a round later to end the fight.

What was most impressive about the performance is a shared connection through Reyes. In 2023, Oscar Collazo – the current unified strawweight titleholder – stopped Reyes in five rounds in a WBO strawweight title eliminator. After Friday, Collazo and Washington are the only two fighters to stop the 23-fight veteran Reyes.

Washington, of San Bernardino, California, is 7-0 (6 KOs), and he isn’t shy; he aims to fight for a world title this year.

Meanwhile, the 29-year-old Reyes, of Monterrey, Mexico, fell to 18-5 (8 KOs).

Jerry Perez, of Oak Hills, California, pulled off a heroic seven-round knockout to defeat Tayden Beltran of Costa Mesa, California. The time of stoppage was 2 minutes, 32 seconds.

The bout was competitive, and Perez, 32, appeared to be slowing down in the later rounds when he landed a left-hook/right-hand combination that sent Beltran crashing to the canvas. Beltran tried to beat the count but couldn’t.

Perez, who had been on an 0-5-1 run since 2022, improved to 15-6-1 (12 KOs).

Beltran – who recovered from a knockout loss to Corey Marksman last May with a second-round stoppage over Alfredo Diaz Minjarez in November – fell to 11-2-1 (6 KOs).

Super middleweight Ruben Cazales, of Anaheim, California, scored a third-round knockout of Joaquin Murrieta Lucio, from Ciudad Obregon, Sonora, Mexico.

Cazales, 24, dropped the 35-year-old Lucio with a left hook in Round 2. Cazales caught Lucio with a big right hand, forcing referee Rudy Barragan to stop the fight.

Cazales advanced to 14-0 (12 KOs). Lucio is now 14-16-3 (12 KOs).

Junior welterweight Criztec Bazaldua snapped a two-fight losing streak by stopping fellow Los Angeles resident Imer Eliel Lima in the fifth round.

The time of the stoppage was 3 minutes. The bout was stopped by the doctor between rounds when it was determined that Lima had suffered a broken jaw.

Bazaldua was once a high-profile signee for Matchroom Boxing in 2023 who has since been cut by the promotion. The win boosted his record to 7-2 (2 KOs), while the 25-year-old Lima is now 2-2-1 (2 KOs).

Lightweight Eric Mondragon, of Maywood, California, won a six-round unanimous decision over Ronal Ron, of Chino Hills, California. The three scores were 58-56.

Mondragon, 27, improved to 13-1-1 (5 KOs) and is on a five-fight winning streak since losing to Haven Brady Jnr.

The 28-year-old Ron dropped to 14-9 (11 KOs).

Women’s junior welterweight Stephanie Simon, of Santa Monica, California, won a six-round unanimous decision over Julia Igel, of Teufen, Switzerland. Three scores were 60-54.

Simon, 31, is now 6-0 (1 KO), while the 25-year-old Igel fell to 5-2 (4 KOs).
