Undefeated prospect Anthony Garnica will face veteran Eros Correa in a bantamweight bout for a regional title and Northern California bragging rights.

Garnica-Correa will headline an event scheduled for May 15 at Thunder Studios in Long Beach, California, and will be broadcast on FOX Deportes.

Garnica, 13-0 (8 KOs), is a 25-year-old from Oakland who will be coming off a 13-month layoff, having most recently stopped Aston Palicte inside three rounds last April. He has fought only once a year since 2022, but Garnica is on a three-fight knockout streak, having previously scored first-round KOs against Adan Ochoa (2024) and Oscar Negrete (2023).

Correa, a 33-year-old originally from San Jose, California, marks a significant step up for Garnica. Now 15-2 (9 KOs), Correa was once ranked as high as No. 5 at 118lbs by the WBC, though he most recently dropped a unanimous decision to the unbeaten Michael Angeletti last June.

“Fans can expect an action-packed fight,” Garnica said. “Eros is coming in hungry to revamp his career, and I respect the tough opponents he’s faced. I’ve followed his journey closely, and I’m excited to step in the ring with someone of his caliber. At the end of the day, it’s going to come down to styles – and mine will prevail.”

Before the Angeletti loss, Correa had won five in a row, following his only other career defeat – a majority decision to Katsuma Akitsugi. Having finally recovered from an injury ahead of the Angeletti fight and now working with coach Richard Barrientes, Correa is aiming to return to contender status.

“I’m excited to get back into the ring, and I know this title will get me back in the rankings where I belong,” Correa said. “I’ve been working with my new trainer and I’ve elevated my skill set. I’m ready to show that on May 15.”

Scheduled for separate appearances on the undercard are junior flyweight Andy Dominguez Velasquez, 13-1 (6 KOs), and junior welterweight Criztec Bazaldua, 7-2 (2 KOs).
