Promoter Frank Warren said Tyson Fury will likely be an interested spectator at ringside when Fabio Wardley defends his WBO heavyweight title against Daniel Dubois on May 9.

They box in Manchester, a month after Fury’s April 11 bout with Arslanbek Makhmudov at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London

“We’ve got that big fight coming up, which is a huge fight in May between Fabio and Daniel Dubois, that’s a cracker of a fight,” Warren told the Queensberry Promotions YouTube channel. “The two biggest punchers out there duking it out and I’m sure he [Fury] will be a very interested ringside watcher for that fight.”

Then, discussing Wardley-Dubois further, Warren added: “Two big punchers... Fabio, learning on the job, has done everything he had to do and in his last fight beat the guy who was the No. 1 challenger in Joe Parker and done it in style. He’s a massive puncher, he’s got a good chin, he’s gritty and determined and you look at Daniel, his last fight out, which was a loss [to Oleksandr Usyk], for a couple of rounds he was there but then Usyk took over and it weren’t a good result for him. Obviously he got beat but it weren’t a good result for him but he’s young enough to come again, he’s a big puncher and one thing for sure, that fight is not going nowhere near the distance. Because it will be bombs away. Because styles make fights and these guys walk forwards.

“The heavyweight division is on fire. Tyson coming back, he’s stoking it up. It’s really going up a few degrees.”

Warren also confirmed that he was set to promote a heavyweight bout in France, likely to be the return of Tony Yoka, and that he was looking to get Agit Kabayel back out in Germany in the summer.

He also admitted that it seemed likely that Fury would return to face Anthony Joshua, but when two of Joshua’s closest friends were killed in a car accident in which Joshua was a passenger, everything changed.

“There was the plan for the AJ fight, but I think that’s been pushed back and we’ll see what happens in due course,” said Warren. “But if Tyson wants to fight on he wants to fight the best and who knows, maybe there’ll be another Usyk fight.”
