Featherweight prospect Kevin Walsh will headline against former title challenger Tramaine Williams on May 10 at the Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Connecticut, according to promoter CES Boxing.
Walsh, 16-0 (9 KOs), is a 32 year old from Brockton, Massachusetts. He last fought in February, defeating the 12-1 Ricky de los Santos via eighth-round technical knockout.
Williams, 20-2 (6 KOs), is a 32 year old from New Haven, Connecticut. He fought for the vacant WBO junior featherweight title in 2020, losing to Angelo Leo via unanimous decision. In Williams’ past fight under traditional boxing rules in April 2023, he lost a decision to junior-featherweight contender Elijah Pierce.
Williams’ actual past fight was a frightening experience, when he collapsed in the ring during a Team Combat League bout in June 2024.
He told BoxingScene that he was dehydrated due to a combination of binge drinking and then trying to make weight.
“So once I stopped drinking, I was dehydrated,” he said in July. “You know, alcohol dehydrates you. So I had about five pounds to lose. So on top of me stopping drinking, I had to lose five pounds. So I was already dehydrated from alcohol, and then I lost more weight from training. I didn’t eat. Then when the fight came, I didn’t hydrate properly.”
The undercard includes:
